Fire blankets are made of many materials. Two of the most common are made from fiber glass like polyester fabric with coating which can be woven into a supple or pliable type of material to allow the blanket to conform to many differing shapes, sizes. Some are 100% fiberglass.

So the fire blanket made of 100% fiberglass have the advantages:

1) Quick and easy to apply

2) Light weight

3) Easy to maintain

4) Cheaper than extinguishers

However,everything has two sides,the fire blanket also has his disadvantages:

In order to use on a fire, you have to move close to the fire where your hands will be particularly vulnerable

1) They can only be used on a very small and contained fire

2) You probably only get one go at extinguishing the fire . If you fail to put out the fire then you will not be able to retrieve the blanket

All blankets are subject to burn through from molten slag/metal. Direct contact with extreme temperature and flame may result in smoking or fire. This product is intended to provide partial protection during light duty welding and grinding jobs.
