Among reinforcements, Fiberglass Fabrics continue to be the most commonly used reinforcement in the composites industry today. Generally, they are the least expensive among reinforcements and offer easily in handling. And when combined with resin, deliver composite parts with excellent strength, low weight, and great cosmetics.
All Fiberglass Fabrics are woven for fiber orientation, and each fabric features its own unique weight, strength, and fabric characteristics, which should be considered before starting any project.
Particularly lightweight and thin, this 2-ounce Plain Weave Fiberglass is ideally suited as a surface layer for aerospace and marine applications. Use it to minimize print-through of heavier fabrics within a lamination, or as a sanding veil over other fabrics—it will cure as a transparent, protective barrier.
Like other plain weaves, it delivers uniform strength in both horizontal and vertical directions, with warp and fill yarns at 0 and 90 degrees, respectively. Orient this fabric so that yarns run parallel to expected loads.
If you plan to buy this fabric, you can check it with our side directly or you can do following the next step:
Before starting the lay-up process, fabricators should consider:
1) This fabric features high conformability and excellent finish.
2) During lay-up, add layers at alternating 45-degree angles to maximize strength.
3) Use with epoxy resin, polyester resin, or vinyl ester resin to produce composite parts of excellent strength, low weight, and great cosmetics.
If requested, this fabric can be certified to meet the requirements of:Style 106. Unionfull is committed to ensuring that every roll of fabric we handle is First Quality and manufactured to the highest standards, so that you can expect the same finish, sizing, and handling characteristics every time you order.
